Just because they’re rich and famous doesn’t mean that celebrities get a pass when it comes to the environment. Even Oscar nominees need to help our planet! If you’re looking for a celebrity to look up to, we’ve compiled the five celebrities who are making the biggest impact by leading green lives.

Celebrities Leading Green Lives

  • Leonardo DiCaprio

He has been a thorn in global warming’s side forever. The star has his own foundation that supports pretty much every environmental cause out there. DiCaprio sits on the board of The Natural Resources Defense Council, WWF (animals, not wrestling), Global Green USA and the International Fund for Animal Welfare. He may be a superstar, but that doesn’t stop him from driving a Prius and flying commercial flights instead of private jets. Leo is also the narrator, producer and creator of The 11th Hour, a documentary that deals with the needs of our planet.

  • Jessica Alba

As one of the founders of the Honest Company, Alba vowed to make the world a greener place by making products that won’t harm our children or the environment. The company makes natural, safe items for babies like diapers and wipes to stuff for adults like deodorant and dish soap. Although Alba is an actress by day, she’s a mother by night who keeps it green in her eco-friendly Hollywood home.

  • Brad Pitt

The actor’s Make It Right Foundation stepped in after Hurricane Katrina to build homes for those in need. Of the 150 homes that Pitt’s foundation is working on, all of them are equipped with green features and advanced engineering concepts to withstand floods and strong winds making them pretty much indestructible and all the way eco-friendly. Also, The U.S. Green Building Council says Pitt’s foundation has created the biggest, greenest single-family community in the world.

  • Gisele Bundchen

This supermodel is a model green citizen. Gisele has a line of flip-flops that are eco-friendly with proceeds going to conservation efforts in the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforest. She’s also responsible for the Clean Water Project, an initiative to restore vegetation in Horizontina where she grew up. Gisele is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program.

  • Ed Begley Jr.

Begley Jr. may be the reason celebrities want to go green in the first place. He’s been keeping it green for decades and was one of early adopters of the electric car. His home features only green products and has everything from wind-powered iPod chargers to hemp shower curtains. He also created Begley’s Best, an all-purpose cleaner made with natural ingredients that biodegrades in less than a week.
